Service types
Reservation.Studio offers four service types. The type you choose from the start affects how the service is configured, how it is used in the product, and how pricing is structured.
When to use this page
- When you are creating a new service and are not sure which type is correct.
- When you are restructuring the catalog and want to avoid the wrong choice from the start.
- When you need to explain the difference between single, group, package, and "Check-in service" to your team.
In short
- Single service — individual visits.
- Group service — one session with multiple participants.
- Package service — multiple services in one offer.
- Check-in service — entry, exit, and stay flow through "Reception".
Single service
Choose "Single service" when the service is for one visit and usually for one client in a given time slot.
It is suitable when:
- the service has a clear duration and price;
- booking is one-to-one;
- you need the standard setup for employees, resources, and online visibility.
Examples:
- haircut;
- consultation;
- therapy;
- individual procedure.
What matters:
- you work with the standard "Pricing options";
- you can assign the service to locations, employees, and resources;
- you can enable or disable online booking for the service.
Group service
Choose "Group service" when multiple clients book the same time slot.
It is suitable when:
- there is one shared start time for all participants;
- you work with seats or capacity;
- one appointment can include more than one client.
Examples:
- trainings;
- classes;
- group events;
- scheduled courses.
What matters:
- the setup is close to a single service, but oriented toward multiple participants;
- you can work with "Additional group options";
- when needed, you can also enable corporate card companies.
Package service
Choose "Package service" when you sell multiple services as one combined offer.
It is suitable when:
- you want to offer a bundled service at a better value;
- the included services should be scheduled together.
Examples:
- a package of several procedures;
- a combined offer with several consecutive services;
- a service made of several already existing services.
What matters:
- you add at least 2 services to the package;
- you choose whether the package is sequential or parallel;
- you do not work with the standard "Pricing options";
- you work with "Services in package", "Package price type", and "Package price".
Check-in service
Choose "Check-in service" when the service is for entry, exit, and stay charging through "Reception", not for a standard appointment in the calendar.
It is suitable when:
- you run a front-desk access flow;
- you want to charge an entry fee, stay time, or both;
- you want to track the client through "Check-ins", client profile, sales, and reports.
Examples:
- entry to a play zone;
- daily access to an area or club;
- stay priced by time;
- a reception entry and exit flow.
What matters:
- the type appears in the product as "Check-in service";
- each pricing option has "Billing duration" and "Time charge for billing duration";
- each pricing option also includes a dedicated "Check-in pricing" section;
- this type is not for standard online booking and does not follow the normal appointment flow.
If you are unsure which type to choose
- Choose single service if the client books one specific slot for one service.
- Choose group service if many clients book the same slot.
- Choose package service if you sell multiple services as one whole.
- Choose check-in service if you work with entry, exit, and stay through "Reception".
