Barcode/QR Scanner

This page is about the general code scanner in Business when you want to quickly open a related client, issued membership, or appointment.

If you are looking for the QR flow for "Check-ins" in "Reception", continue to Check-ins. That is a separate flow with different logic.

Where to open it

The most common entry points are:

  • in the desktop version from the top menu through "Integrations" -> "Barcode/QR Scanner";
  • in the mobile app from the action menu through "Scan QR code".

What is the difference between the desktop version and the mobile app

Desktop version

In the desktop version, "Barcode/QR Scanner" works as a scanner on/off control.

When you turn it on:

  • the menu shows on;
  • the system starts accepting scanned codes;
  • the state stays remembered until you turn it off again.

When you turn it off:

  • the menu shows off;
  • the scanner stops processing codes.

Mobile app

In the mobile app, "Scan QR code" opens a dedicated camera-based scanning screen.

There:

  • you tap "Start scan";
  • the system asks for camera access when needed;
  • if access is missing, you can use "Open settings".

Important:

  • camera scanning is available only in the mobile app;
  • the browser and desktop app do not use this scanning method.

What codes are supported

The scanner is most useful with QR codes generated by Reservation.Studio.

After a successful scan, the system can:

  • open an issued membership;
  • open the client profile;
  • open the appointment of the specific client.

The exact result depends on the contents of the code.

How it works for an appointment

When the code belongs to a client from a specific appointment:

  • the system opens that client’s appointment;
  • this is useful when you want to quickly continue with the actions around that appointment;
  • from there you can continue with the usual appointment workflow.

If the appointment cannot be found, the system shows an error.

How it works for a membership

When the code belongs to an issued membership:

  • the system opens that membership;
  • you can immediately review whether it is active and what its current state is.

How it works for a client

When the code belongs to a client:

  • the system opens the client profile directly;
  • this is useful when you want to quickly reach that client’s appointments, sales, memberships, or check-ins.

When not to use this page

Do not use this flow when your goal is to start or close an entry/exit record in "Reception".

There is a separate QR flow for that in:

There, scanning works with a client QR code and can directly perform "Check-in" or "Check-out" depending on the client’s current state.

What is important to know

  • Use QR codes generated by Reservation.Studio.
  • With an invalid or unsupported code, the system will not open a useful action.
  • In the mobile app, after a successful scan you can continue with another scan without reopening the screen.

What is not on this page

  • This page is about general code scanning, not about creating or sharing QR codes.
  • This page does not describe the dedicated QR flow for "Check-ins" in "Reception".
  • If you want the appointment workflow after scanning, continue to Appointments.
  • If you want the membership workflow after scanning, continue to Issued memberships.
