Examination templates

A template fills in, in one step, the fields for a type of examination you write often. "Copy from previous examination" does the same with the patient's last closed examination.

In the examination

The "Actions" menu (the three dots at the top right of the examination) holds:

  • "Templates" — the list of templates to apply, "Save examination as template" and "Manage templates";
  • "Copy from previous examination" — fills in the examination from the patient's last closed examination. Handy for a follow-up examination. If the patient has none, you see "The patient has no previous closed examination."

The template and the previous examination replace only the fields they contain and leave the rest unchanged. If they would replace something already written, the system asks "Replace the filled fields?" and lists the sections. When they are applied, you see "Filled fields: N".

In an open examination the opening data stay locked — see E-examination.

In a closed or voided examination the "Templates" submenu holds only "Save examination as template" and "Manage templates".

Creating and editing

Open "Integrations" → "HIS" → "Examination templates". That is where you create, edit and delete templates. In the examination you can only apply a template.

  1. Press "New template".
  2. Fill in "Template name".
  3. Fill in the fields the template should contain — the notes, the diagnosis, the examination data, accompanying diseases and activities. Empty fields are not saved.
  4. Leave "Only for me" on for a personal template, or switch it off to share the template with your colleagues.
  5. Press "Save".

A template never contains patient data. "Save examination as template" opens the same editor, filled in from the current examination without the patient.

Shared templates carry the "Shared" label. Only the author decides whether a template is shared.

Who can do what

Every employee who writes examinations can apply templates. To create, edit and delete templates, the employee needs the "Examination templates" permissions in their role. Tick them in "Employees" → "Roles" — see Roles and permissions. Without the create permission, "Save examination as template" is not shown.

Employees with these permissions can also edit and delete their colleagues' shared templates. A personal template is visible only to its author.
