Service categories

This page is about service categories. Use it to group services into clear catalog sections and decide which categories stay active and available for online booking.

When to use this page

  • When you are setting up the catalog for the first time.
  • When you want services grouped into clear sections.
  • When you need to control online visibility for whole categories.

What you can configure

In a category you can set:

  • name;
  • description;
  • whether the category is active;
  • whether the category is available for online booking;
  • media for the category.

There is also AI help for "Category description" if you want a faster first draft.

Important:

  • one service can belong to more than one category;
  • from the categories list you can open the services in a specific category;
  • if you are creating a new service and do not yet have the right category, add it here first.

What you see in the list

In the categories list you see:

  • the category name;
  • a short description;
  • the online booking status;
  • the active or inactive status.

You can open a category directly from its row in the list or from the row menu.

How to create a category

  1. Open "Categories" inside "Services".
  2. Click "New category".
  3. Fill in:
    • "Category name"
    • "Category description" if needed
  4. Decide whether the category should be:
    • active;
    • available for online booking.
  5. Add media if needed.
  6. Save the category.

AI help for the category description

There is an AI Content Assistant button next to "Category description".

Use it when you want a quick starting draft for the category text. In the modal you set:

  • Instructions
  • Tone
  • Purpose
  • Language
  • Add emoji

After "Generate", review the proposed text and use "Use text" to insert it into the category description. You can still edit it manually before saving the category.

What you can do from the row menu

From the category menu, you can:

  • edit the category;
  • open "Open category media";
  • open the services from that category;
  • delete or restore the category.

The action for opening the services is most useful when you want to check the real content of one category without searching for services one by one.

What to watch for

  • If categories are not structured well, the online catalog becomes harder to browse.
  • If a category is inactive, it cannot be used normally in the catalog.
  • If a category is not enabled for online booking, that also limits how services inside it can appear online.
  • If one service should appear online, it is not enough for the category alone to be enabled for online booking. The service itself must also be enabled for online booking.

When should I create a new category instead of just a new service? Create a new category when you want to organise the catalog into different groups. Create a new service when you are adding a real new service to the catalog.

Can I open only the services from one category? Yes. Use the action for opening the services from that specific category.
