Resources
Resources control capacity and prevent double booking of shared assets such as rooms, devices, and workstations.
When you actually need a resource
Add a resource when the same physical asset is shared between more than one service or employee. Typical examples are:
- a room;
- a device;
- a bed;
- a specific workstation.
If the limit is only based on employee and time, a resource is not required.
What you see in the list
In the resources list you see:
- name;
- capacity;
- location;
- active or inactive status.
From here you can:
- add a "New resource";
- filter the resources you need;
- open a specific resource for editing.
What you configure in a resource
- "Name" (up to 255 characters)
- "Location"
- "Capacity" (minimum 1, maximum 65535)
- "Color"
- "Active resource"
- "Description" (optional)
Steps
- Open "Settings" -> "Resources".
- Click "New resource".
- Fill in "Name", "Location", and "Capacity".
- Optionally set "Color" and "Description".
- Enable "Active resource".
- Click "Save".
Result
The resource becomes available for use in services and affects the available booking slots.
How capacity works
Capacity defines how many parallel appointments can use the same resource.
In practice:
- a resource with capacity 1 behaves as a single constraint;
- a resource with a higher capacity allows more parallel bookings;
- the resource only starts affecting availability after it is connected to a service.
Important
- resources do not replace services or employees; they add one more limit to availability;
- if the service is not configured to use resources, the resource will not affect booking;
- the location of the resource must match the context in which the service is offered.
When the resource actually affects availability
The resource limits booking only when it is active, connected to the service, and the service is configured to use resource availability in the correct location.
