Task categories
A category says what kind of work a task is — cleaning, maintenance, calls, stock. On a list of forty tasks it is what lets you see at a glance where the week went.
The category is optional. A task without one works perfectly well.
Where to find them
Open "Settings" → "Task categories".
This screen has its own permission. If an employee does not see it in the menu, add the permission to their role — see Roles and access permissions.
How to add a category
Press "New category".
Fill in the "Name".
Choose a "Color". The colour marks the edge of every task row in this category.
Leave "Active" switched on and press "Create".
How to use them
- In the task, pick the category in the "Category" field.
- In the "Tasks" list, filter by category to see only one kind of work.
- For tasks that already exist, select several rows and use the "Category" bulk action to file them all at once or to clear their category.
Order of the categories
You change the order in the list by dragging. That is also the order in which the categories are offered on the task form.
Deactivating and deleting
- Switch off "Active" when you no longer want the category offered but want to keep it.
- "Delete category" removes it. The tasks in it keep their history and are left without a category — the system asks about this before deleting: "The tasks in this category keep their history and lose the label. Delete it?"
- A deleted category can be brought back with "Restore".
