Google Analytics

If you use Google Analytics 4, you can connect it to online booking. You then see in it the visits to your location's pages, the services added to the cart and the bookings made — from the location profile, from the web component and from the booking page embedded in your website. Apart from the ID in the settings, you do not need to add anything else. Only if you embedded the booking page in an iframe by hand, the web component script must also be on the page for the ad click and the choice made in your website's cookie banner to reach it.

Who this page is for

Owners and managers who follow their visits and ads in Google Analytics.

Before you start

  • Online booking must be turned on for the location. The "Options" button of the location is shown only then.
  • You need the measurement ID of your Google Analytics 4. You find it in Google Analytics, in the settings of your website's data stream, and it starts with G-, for example G-A1B2C3D4E5.

How to connect Google Analytics

  1. Open "Online bookings".
  2. On the location, press "Options" and choose "Integrations".
  3. In the "Google Analytics" section, turn on "Enable".
  4. Fill in "Analytics ID" — the measurement ID that starts with G-.
  5. Press "Save".

If the ID is not G- followed only by capital Latin letters and digits, the field shows "Invalid value for this field" and nothing is saved. Universal Analytics IDs (UA-…) are not accepted — that version of Google Analytics no longer collects data.

The setting is per location. If your locations use the same Google Analytics, enter the same ID on each of them.

What is sent to Google Analytics

Event in Google AnalyticsWhen it is sentWhat it carries
page_viewthe visitor opens the location's profile, a page within it or the booking page in the web componentthe page address
add_to_cartthe visitor adds a service of the location to the cartamount, currency and the service
purchasethe client sends a booking or joins a class at the locationthe booking's identifier (the same one Meta gets), amount, currency, the services and the number of seats

Services are sent by their numbers, without their names. No client data is sent.

Pages are sent only from the location's pages. When the visitor adds your service or books with you from another page of reservation.studio — the search, the cart, the list of classes — add_to_cart and purchase still reach your Google Analytics. Pages and events of other businesses do not reach it.

When it is sent and when it is not

Nothing is sent until the visitor allows analytics cookies: with "Accept" in the cookie message or with "Analytics cookies" in "Settings". If your website manages consent in the web component, its banner decides, and the line for the banner must include analytics as well — see JavaScript integration.

Google Analytics receives events from:

  • the location's profile on reservation.studio;
  • your own domain, if you have set one up;
  • the web component and the booking page embedded in an iframe on your website.

In the web component and in the embedded iframe, Google Analytics sees the visits with the reservation.studio address, apart from the visits to your website itself. If the visitor came from a Google ad, the click is carried over to the booking page and the booking is tied to the ad — in the embedded iframe, when the web component script is also on the page.

The Reservation.Studio mobile app does not send to your Google Analytics.

Important

  • purchase is sent when the booking is made, not when it is paid. Reports also include bookings where the client did not show up.
  • Google Analytics and the data collected in it are yours, and you are responsible for them towards your clients. Describe them in your website's privacy policy.
